~2700 years ago – Arathos and Aziathas split into two distinct realms: Bifurcation of The Flow.

~800 years ago – The Concord of Aziathas, a network of Aetheric guilds united to preserve balance and promote cooperation, eventually degenerates: ruled by bloodlines, riddled with secrecy, and blind to the suffering of common folk.
~750 years ago – Augmentation becomes widespread. Magic is stolen and sold.
- Cursed Magic is born: unstable and dangerously powerful. Ancient relics are hoarded. Communication Runes are auctioned only to the elite. The guilds begin rewriting magical history to secure control.
~710 years ago – The Aetheric Conflict begins. Guilds and magical factions turn on one another, rivalries deepen and cities burn. What begins as political tension erupts into The Aetheric War.

~700 years ago – An Abjurer attempts to sever the Aetheric Flow to purge corruption from the world. They use the Barrier Scroll, hoping to restore balance by silencing magic. The spell backfires, cities fall, and lives vanish. The veil between Arathos and Aziathas seals. The Concord of Aziathas collapses and dissolves.
~680 years ago – The Volga assimilate into modern cities following the decline of the Mytharin. The Aether-starved Mytharin fade after the Upheaval, while the underground-dwelling Volga endure.
In the aftermath, the world reels. Cities lie in ruin and ancient knowledge is lost. What follows is a long, fractured era of instability and rebuilding.

~170 years ago – Following the Upheaval, in the chaos, surviving noble families (like the Peras) form the Federation. Magic is regulated. Abjuration is erased from history, portals are erased from history. The Onyx Guard is formed.

~150 years ago – The East Territories War begins. The Empire forms from its ashes. Emperor Gabaranth Su’neth unites the fractured East and vows to push back the Federation.
Rumors spread of Lumiphages (Light Eaters), cursed magic reemerges

~27 years ago – The Massacre of Halcyon Braid: A peace treaty between the Empire and the Federation nears completion. Oriole’s mother (a Su’nethian diplomat) is assassinated during the summit. The Onyx Guard is betrayed. Among the fallen: Jackhad Alrae, Ryn’s father. Sepitus Drax defects. Propaganda runs rampant.

- Phylos and baby Oriole escape into the Federation
~22 years ago – The Umbral Accord forms: As the Federation tightens its grip on magic, a quiet resistance takes root.

~19 years ago – The First Spark: Oriole’s magic manifests to her for the first time
~15 years ago – Ryn Enlists: At 16, Ryn Alrae joins the Federation Army. He rises fast.
~13 years ago – Onyx Guard Recruitment: At 18, Ryn is recruited into the Onyx Guard, the youngest member in decades.
~11 years ago – Ministry Rejection: At 16, Oriole applies to the Ministry of Phusos, to become a magical apprentice but is rejected.
~10 years ago – Siege of Dalarath: The Guard’s captain is killed during the Siege of Dalarath. Ryn takes command and ends the conflict in three days. He is named Captain of the Onyx Guard and earns the title: The Spear of Phusos.
~7 years ago – Library Years: Oriole becomes a scribe at the Library of Phusos.
~6 years ago – Reckless Pursuit: Convinced Sepitus Drax caused the Massacre of Halcyon Braid and his father’s death, Ryn enters Su’nethian territory to assassinate him. He fails and is captured.
~5 years ago – Return and Reprisal: After a year in enemy hands, Ryn escapes. The Federation puts him on trial for treason. Stripped of rank and title, he retreats quietly to the town of Kilead.
