The Creator

I’m J, a designer and storyteller based in the San Francisco Bay Area. By day, I work as a professional Designer with a vast array of experience having worked for companies like Google, Disney+, Electronic Arts, and Blizzard Entertainment. By night (and weekends), I create The Barrier Scroll, a passion project I’ve carried with me for many years now.

I’m not a full-time illustrator or comic creator. It’s a labor of love created in the margins of my full-time job and real life. But storytelling, especially of the fantasy genre, has always held a special place in my heart. I’m drawn to sweeping worlds, broken heroes, and slow burn romantic perfection. The Barrier Scroll is all of that and more, and I’m incredibly grateful to finally be sharing it with you.
